About us

After 2 previous participations in the Solar Decathlon Europe Competition with the PRISPA project in, Madrid 2012, and with the EFdeN project in Versailles 2014, Romania will be represented in the Solar Decathlon Middle East edition in 2018, Dubai by project EFdeN Signature of Team EFdeN.

Our team consists of students and graduates of a diverse academic background from both Romania and Dubai, starting from architects, to engineers from all fields (from structural, electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilation), to public relations and management people, all together for a common purpose: to use all gathered knowledge and experience to reach our common goals.

Mission

We are a multidisciplinary team of change-oriented students and professors from different professional fields who aim to build a better and healthier future, by creating a project that will stand as an example for the way we approach responsible building. We believe in a sustainable lifestyle and wish to help raise awareness on the way people relate to the environment.

The team is taking on a bigger challenge with a new climate, social and economic context, designing an intelligent, energy efficient, solar house prototype for Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018. The prototype responds to the UAE climate with the possibility of adapting to various conditions, so it could fully function in Romania as well.

This competition is about more than designing and building a solar house, it is an opportunity – a possibility for more students to gain valuable experience, for companies to start or continue investing in sustainability-oriented actions, for the general public to gain access to information and for the young generations to grasp the importance of responsible consumption.

Goal

We aim to improve the building sector by creating a prototype of a sustainable house which adapts not only to the UAE climate, but also to other climate conditions, promoting a more responsible way of building and use of resources. We also seek to obtain a brand new living experience with this prototype, which can adapt easily to different lifestyles and cultural needs, due to its flexible design.

Through this prototype, we want to increase the population’s awareness of energy efficient solar houses in order to facilitate a rise in demand for solar technologies that will make them more accessible to everyone. We believe in promoting tightly-knit communities that will help support the idea of change in each individual.
